Hi to Anyone who has stumbled across my little blog.
For my first foray into blogging on this new site I wanted to give you a bit of background information as to why I started it. I wont cover this off in too much detail at this time because these are things I will share over the coming months.
I have had a very fortunate upbringing, even though my father died when I was two I was lucky to grow up in a very loving and supportive family. My Mum and I are extremely close and this relationship continues to this day.
I guess my journey (and the reason I'm starting this blog) started in September of 2013, when my grandfather passed away. After the loss of my own father, my Grandpa was like a father to me and this hit me and my Mum very hard. My husband was unbelievably supportive during this time, including sitting up with my grandfather all night the night before he passed away and for this I am forever indebted to him.
He and I had just bought a new house together and this was in the process of going through, we'd been through some ups and downs in the past but I never quite expected what was about to come in the following months.
We had bought a house which was a "fixer upper" but neither of us had any idea quite how much work this would require. Without realising it, I had slipped into a state of depression and the thought of getting up out of bed each day became more and more difficult, this put strain on our relationship and our relationship became strained. I would go entire weekends not seeing my husband as he was out with friends and I was left home alone. This was when I started to realise that I was desperately unhappy and that potentially my marriage was over, then followed the panic attacks, the nausea, fatigue, sense of impending doom and my health started to deteriorate. I was so ashamed by the state my marriage had got in I felt I couldn't tell anyone, so I didn't. The first my family knew of it was the day I finally told my husband we needed time apart and I moved home, I've never gone back.
What followed was a breakdown, a lot of medication and a very long and hard journey which my family have helped me through. I don't believe my journey is over but I'd like to share it with you.
The reason why I wanted to start this blog was so I can share my experiences with you all and share some of the things which have helped. I also can't wait to share the "new" me with you over the coming months.
I want this to be a space where we can share things relating to depression and anxiety but also fun things relating to my lifestyle, my love of food and makeup and other completely random things!
I'd love to hear your experiences and tips if you have been through anything like this!
Signing off for today!
